When the Dark One Fits

A dark screenshot reads as a message sent at night, and it sits on a dark video edit without flashing a white rectangle, which suits storytime and late-night-message videos. The thread is Messenger's default look in dark mode: blue bubbles on black, grey replies, blue icons and the blue thumbs-up, with the layout measured from a real iPhone capture.

What actually changes when Messenger goes dark?
The thread, the header and the message box lose their light fill, and timestamps drop with them. Your own bubbles stay the brighter colour against that background, which is why a dark screenshot reads as night rather than as a recolour of the light one. The layout was measured from a real iPhone capture of a dark Messenger chat, and the blue of your bubbles, the icons and the thumbs-up come from screenshots of the default theme.
Can I switch this conversation back to the light chat?

When is the dark screenshot the right one?
When the scene happens at night, or when the screenshot goes into a dark video edit, where a white one would flash on screen. For a daytime scene the light chat fits better, and the sun button switches to it in place.

On the iPhone screen it is 1170 × 2532 pixels — an iPhone 12, 13 and 14 screenshot — as a PNG with no watermark. On the Android phone it is 1236 × 2745, close to a Pixel capture.
Is anything I type uploaded?
Not unless you ask for it. The screenshot is drawn on a canvas inside your browser and the PNG is saved straight from there; the names and the messages never reach our servers. The one exception is Write with AI: the short description you type there is sent to our server to draft the conversation, and nothing else is. The only copy that outlives the tab is the draft your own browser keeps on your own device so you can come back to it.
